Check-In & Briefing
Meet at the Dive Aitutaki dive shop for paperwork and orientation.
Get fitted with pre-prepared snorkelling gear (mask, snorkel, fins).
Go over a detailed whale interaction briefing, covering safety, group behaviour, and how to maximise respectful encounters.
Boat Ride to Outer Reef
Head out through the passage to the outer reef.
The boat ride varies from 10 minutes to longer, depending on the whale location that day.
Whale Spotting & Behaviour Assessment
We observe from a respectful distance and assess the whale’s behaviour and comfort before any attempt to enter the water.
If the conditions are right, your guide enters the water first to ensure it’s safe and calm.
Whale Swimming Experience
When safe, you’ll be invited to join the guide in the water, with up to 4–6 swimmers at a time, including the guide.
Time in the water depends on how the whale is behaving, ensuring minimal disturbance and maximum awe.
You’ll be in open ocean, so comfort in deep water is important.
Surface Time & Refreshments
After your swim, relax with water and light snacks on board.
We may continue to search for or observe whales, time permitting.
Return to Shore & Café Wind-Down
Return to the dive shop, take off gear, and relax at our on-site café to reflect on the experience.
Swimwear & towel
Reef-safe sunscreen
Hat and sunglasses Camera (optional – waterproof preferred)
Sense of awe and respect for marine life

7 Days Cancellation: 25% refund if cancelled at least 14 days before the booking start date.

Do I need to be a strong swimmer? This is an open ocean experience, and you must be comfortable in deep water while snorkelling.
How many people are in the water at once? We limit to 4–6 swimmers at a time, including your in-water guide, to keep the experience intimate and low-impact.
Will we definitely swim with whales? Whales are wild animals, so sightings and swims cannot be guaranteed, but our team is experienced at locating and assessing their behaviour.
Can I just observe from the boat? Yes, you're welcome to stay on the boat if you prefer to watch rather than swim.
Is this tour suitable for children? This tour is generally best for strong swimmers aged 12 and up. Feel free to contact us if you're unsure.
What happens if the weather or conditions aren’t suitable? Safety is our top priority—if conditions aren’t ideal, we may reschedule or offer alternatives.

conditions. By using our service, you agree to these simplified terms and conditions
in their entirety, without any exceptions.

and Cook Islands Pocket Guide by an individual, hereinafter referred to as the "traveler,"
for the purchase of products or services provided by a local provider. The contact details
and legal names of the provider can be found in the header of each page as well as in the
contact section. Throughout this document, the local provider will be referred to as "the provider,"
and Dive Aitutaki/Cook Islands Pocket Guide will be referred to as "we."
Changes to Terms
We may make updates to these terms periodically. We will post any changes on
this page, and your continued use of our services signifies your acceptance of
the new terms.
Last changes to these terms were made on: November 19, 2024.

International Laws
In the event that international laws override this agreement, the liability of
Dive Aitutaki and Cook Islands Pocket Guide will be limited to
a maximum of $75 per booking, with a total maximum limit of NZ$150 per claim.
Flexibility
Given the unpredictable nature of the tourism industry in Cook Islands,
some variations in itineraries and inclusions may occur during a
tour. Travelers are strongly advised to confirm inclusions directly with the
provider before making a purchase. Additionally, we encourage all travelers to
approach tours with an open mind. No parties will accept liability for
reasonable changes within a product's inclusions.
Price
Prices for products or services may change due to factors such as booking
quantities and exchange rates. Therefore, different travelers may pay varying
amounts to join the same experience. Please note that this does not entitle
travelers to price matching or refunds.
Technical Errors and Price Discrepancies
Travelers acknowledge that the Booking Engine operates using complex technical
systems that may, on rare occasions, experience errors leading to the display
of incorrect prices for travel services. In such instances, the Booking Engine
reserves the right to rectify any pricing discrepancies resulting from
technical errors.
Travelers understand and agree that the Booking Engine is not obligated to
honor prices that are inaccurately displayed due to technical errors. In the
event of such discrepancies, the Booking Engine will make reasonable efforts
to promptly rectify the error and provide the correct information.

page. Cancellation policies in Cook Islands are stricter than in other
countries due to logistical challenges. In the event of a provider-initiated cancellation,
a 10% non-refundable fee will apply.
Refund
A 10% booking fee is not refundable, as it covers processing costs. For other
refunds, the provider will adhere to their specific cancellation policy.
